It’s no wonder that this high school senior from Pleasanton, CA was Cal North’s choice for State Young Female Referee of the Year. While her true passion is competitive dance, Suyeu has shown in many other aspects of her life. While she left soccer as a player at the tender age of 8, she soon rejoined the sport her dad and brothers loved so much to become a referee. Now a grade 8 (with sights set firmly on Grade 7) she takes all the games her busy schedule will allow.
And “busy” is probably an understatement. In addition to her soccer and dance activities, Suyeu is an accomplished student, with numerous college acceptance letters to her credit. Her focus in the college she chooses will be business and psychology. Beyond the classroom, Suyeu works as a scholastic tutor, a dance instructor, and currently works at a math and reading center for young students.
Region IV is pleased to name Suyeu Erica Kuo as its Young Female Referee of the Year for 2010
Region IV includes the following states: Alaska, Arizona Cal North and South, Colorado, Hawai, Idaho, Montana, Nevada, New Mexico, Oregon, Utah and Washington.

Q1. I watched an adult game the other day and the goalkeeper threw the ball very hard from his penalty area. There was a lot of wind and the wind took the ball and pushed it into the other team's goal. Is that a legal goal?
Q2. If a player deliberately kicks the ball to his goalie, who is outside the penalty area, may the goalie dribble the ball back into the penalty area and pick it up with the hands?
Q3. A player kicked an indirect free kick straight into her own goal from inside her penalty area. The referee told her to retake the kick. Was that right?
Q4. The goalie wanted to go for a dropped ball. Is that allowed?
